Cloud-enabled servers for small business
We guarantee we’re cheaper than the Dell website for all servers
We have a great deal of experience in specifying and implementing server solutions to run both our own and third party specialist application software.
Often a software vendor prefers to work with a local IT service provider like us when additional server hardware is required – they can then concentrate on supporting their own software, and we become the local team looking after the equipment that’s running it.
Please contact us with your requirement – we’d be happy to help.
Microsoft Windows Hyper-V
Hyper-V is included with all versions of Windows Server from 2008 onwards, meaning you don’t need to buy any additional software. Furthermore, if you purchase your software from Microsoft using volume licensing, it’s possible to run the host server with up to an additional 2 virtual servers from a single license, at no additional cost.
A large proportion of our clients looking for server solutions now use virtualisation and it has proven to be a very cost effective method for maximising server capability at the minimum of cost – particularly for applications that would typically have required 2 or more servers in the past.
There are many different types of server, for example:
Many servers can perform all of the above functions at the same time – and for small businesses, just having a single server is a way of keeping costs down.
As you grow though, or if you start to use functions that require more power, a single server typically isn’t powerful enough to do everything – and you’ll need to look at server solutions to move these functions onto separate servers.
Nowadays, virtualisation is a technology that can help reduce the amount of physical servers needed by allowing you to run multiple virtual servers on one physical server – in this way each of the four functions above could run on their own virtual server, but still only take up one physical server – saving hardware and running costs.
