Software can be thought of as the list of instructions (also known as ‘programs’ or ‘code’) given to a computer to tell it what to do. For example tasks like editing a document, saving a spreadsheet or opening a web page are all completed by the computer by running software.

Software Development

For the most part, people nowadays still need to write software to tell the computer what to do. This is what software development is – the task of creating a piece of software, i.e a list of instructions, for the computer to perform some action.
